Bio
Allison Gregory’s plays include FORCING HYACINTHS (Julie Harris Playwriting Award; South Coast Repertory Theatre’s California Playwrights Award); FALL OFF NIGHT; CLIFFHOUSE, POINT DECEPTION, and FRUIT: a bunch of short plays. Her play BURNING BRIDGET CLEARY was recognized as one of the best new plays of 2006 by Seattle-area critics.
She is currently completing ANOTHER COUNTRY, based on an Edith Wharton novella.
Ms. Gregory has received commissions from South Coast Repertory, ACT in Seattle, Seattle Children’s Theatre, Childsplay in Arizona, and A.S.K. Threatreprojects in L.A. Her plays for young audiences include EVEN STEVEN GOES TO WAR (“Zoni” Best New Script Award; AATE and UPRP awards; Kennedy Center New Visions/New Voices series);
GO DOG. GO!, adapted from the P.D. Eastman book and co-written with Steven Dietz; a new musical adaptation of PETER AND THE WOLF (both of which premiered at SCT); and an adaptation of BREMEN TOWN MUSICIANS. Ms. Gregory lives in Seattle and Austin, with husband Steven Dietz and her children Ruby and Abraham.
